How do I get to Exuma?
Great Exuma has an international airport (GGT) so getting there is quite easy. From the United States, you can fly direct from Miami via American and Atlanta via Delta. So if you can get to one of those hubs from your local airport, then you are good to go. Depending on the season, sometimes you can get a direct flight from Charlotte as well. Otherwise, there are two options out of Nassau, one on Bahamas Air and one on Sky Bahamas. Additionally, Air Canada flies direct from Toronto and has VERY competitive rates.

In Great Exuma, there is a government-operated clinic in George Town for emergency and overnight treatment, staffed by a resident doctor and nurse, as well as a private clinic. Where more comprehensive medical treatment is required, patients are flown to hospitals in Nassau, just 45 minutes away.
Is it easy to travel around the island?
Yes it is. The entire island chain of the Exumas is 130 miles long and 27 square miles in area. Great Exuma is the largest island in the group. The main roads are good throughout the island, and you can travel by rental car, taxi, boat or rental scooter. Taxis are available at the airport as well as in most hotels and towns. The Taxi Association sets fixed rates for most routes around the island. Car rental companies are also situated at the airport.

Drinking tap water in the Bahamas is generally of good quality and safety is considered to be well regulated. However, as in any hot tropical country, there are still some precautions that wise visitors prefer to take. First of all, although tap water is considered good, you can still stick to bottled water.
